Privacy Policy

Version 2026-07-18.2 · Effective July 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Tap to Pray.

Information we collect

  • Account information, including your email address, verification status, and authentication records.
  • Profile information, including your display name, selected city or metro area, approximate city-center coordinates, country code, time zone, locale, daily prayer-request notification preference, and community map preference. We do not request GPS or a street address.
  • Prayer activity, including request, assignment, response, connection, and thank-you timestamps and statuses. The service does not ask for or store the text of your prayer.
  • Notification information, including push subscription endpoints, browser-provided device details, delivery attempts, and delivery results.
  • Technical and security information needed to operate, diagnose, and protect the service.

How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, connect prayer requests with available members, deliver service messages, draw anonymous city-to-city prayer connections, provide support, prevent misuse, and improve reliability.

Community prayer map

When both participants have the community map enabled, an accepted prayer creates an anonymous connection between their selected cities. Public totals do not include names, profile identifiers, prayer content, push data, or exact acceptance times. City-to-city totals are retained without a fixed expiration to show the community's prayer history. Changing your city does not rewrite historical snapshots. Participation is enabled by default and can be disabled in Settings; disabling it removes your historical contributions from public aggregates while retaining private records needed for your own history and service integrity.

How information is shared

Other members can see your display name when needed for a prayer invitation. We use service providers including Convex for application data and authentication, Vercel for hosting and delivery, Resend for account emails, and Mapbox for city search and map display. Mapbox may receive search terms, IP address, and technical request information under its applicable terms. These providers process information on our behalf or as otherwise described in their terms. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention and deletion

We retain account and prayer activity while your account is active and as reasonably needed for security, legal compliance, dispute handling, and service operations. Anonymous community route aggregates may be retained without a fixed expiration, subject to your map preference and deletion rights. You may request account deletion through Support. Some limited records may be retained when legally required.

Your choices and U.S. privacy rights

You can update profile information, disable push notifications, and opt out of the community prayer map in Settings. Depending on where you live and whether a law applies to us, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, and to appeal or limit certain uses. We will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.

Security and age limit

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Tap to Pray is intended only for people age 18 or older, and we do not knowingly accept accounts from children.

International users

The service is operated for a U.S.-first audience but remains available globally. Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, subject to applicable safeguards and law.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy and will post a new version and effective date. For privacy questions or requests, visit Support.
